Where the hell is Porto?
Porto is in northern Portugal. It's a beautiful, colorful, old coastal town where all the Port wine for the entire world is aged.
GETTING TO PORTO
You have probably figured this out, but the only way to get here is to fly. Flight time from New York City is around 6.5 hours. As you explore flight options, you should set your destination to OPO (Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport or simply Porto Airport).
We suggest setting up a Kayak Price Alert for the dates you plan on being in Porto for the wedding. This way you can watch the rise and fall of flight prices and get advice on when you buy. From our own experience, Newark International tends to offer the best prices out of the airports in the Pennsylvania/New York region. Depending on your location we have also seen the best roundtrip rates to Porto from Boston, Miami, Atlanta and Baltimore International Airports, and rates come down if you are willing to take one or more connecting flights typically through Lisbon, Madrid or Paris to reach Porto. We'd suggest connecting in Lisbon if given the option. This way you only have to go through customs in one country.
Spending a little time researching the best departure point can save hundreds of dollars on your ticket price. There are more price estimates on our "Guest Information" page but a great price for a roundtrip ticket from a NYC area airport is between $550-$950 per person.
